Ski trip?
Hi all
I'll be arriving in Palmy in 2 weeks time and was wondering if it was worth my bringing my ski gear along and try and get in a few trips before I have the husband and baby back in mid August.
Otherwise I'll leave it to go in the container and will only be able to hit the slopes next year as container only arrives mid sept so season will be finished by then
I won't have a car. Any suggestions on where to go (close to Palmy) and how much a day trip may cost all in all (trains, day lift pass, lunch etc)
Thanks
Janine

Re: Ski trip?
trains!!!!!!!
we were like you, thought we'd get the train !!!!!!!!!
the only real place in the North is Ruapehu There are two ski fields which everyone tells me are good. It's about a 2&1/2 to 3 hour drive from Plamy. Heaps of accommodation in Oahakune. Other than that check out www.mtruapehu.com

Re: Ski trip?
There may well be shuttle buses though, that service the area.
There is one between Nelson and Rainbow Ski field here which is a 2 hour drive.
What sort of ski gear ? People here tend to ski in anything going.
