Hi dlummis
we travelled with Singapore to and from NZ in the last 3 weeks.
I found them to be grand - the entertainment system is excellent - it has 24+ movies TV favourites, and more computer games than you can shake a stick at! (I spent hours playing tetrus). The journey to NZ was uneventful - however we discovered the true worth of Singapore on our return.
A passenger became ill and the flight was re-routed to Darwin where we had to sit on the tarmac for around 3 hours. Everyone missed their connections - the Captain of the plane came down and spoke to us all personally and assured us that Singapore would ensure we would have alternative arrangements made for us. Sure enough upon arrival in Singapore the Captain personally escorted passangers to a desk where we all got details of our onward journeys. For us traveling to Belfast we had a day in a hotel with meal vouchers and all our connections sorted.
Having been stranded in the USA a few times I found this customer service to be fantastic and over and above the usual.
Other nice touches is the cabin crew coming down through the flight to provide frequent drinks of water and juice and snacks.
I am not a happy flier! in fact I hate it which is unfortunate when one considers the lengt of the journey I can safely say that Singapore made a potentally stressful and uncomfortable journey very bearable.

I hope this helps

We're flying with them on 21st Oct, having enjoyed their service two years ago. I think Singapore airport is probably the best place to spend a stopover, makes the US look like a third-world country.
I just spoke to SIA customer services today - they gave all three of us 30kg baggage allowance because we're migrating, and welcome the use of our car-seat for our 2-yr old.

Just want to back up what the others have said. I've flown BA a couple of times and will happily pay extra to avoid them again.
Singapore were simply excellent. And theres free internet access at Changi airport too.

DH and I flew to NZ with them 2 months ago. They were amazing. The airhosteses are lovely and really cant do enough for you -and how they manage to stay looking so beautiful for the gazillion hours it takes I have no idea!
The food was lovely.
The entertainment is very very good,a massive choice of films, music etc. Constant water, fruit etc for wee snacks.
The second half of the journey from Singapore to Auckland was very hot though.
Singapore airport is pretty good too. If you are having a little stopover - a few hours - you can go to the lounge near the sunflower garden. If you have a priority pass its free - if not you can pay I think $30 singapore which is really great value and you can have a very comfortable rest, free internet access and some excellent food.

I recommned them very highly.

Singapore airlines are the best of breed as far as I'm concerned. Emirates come in second. ... and when you're in the air for as long as we were getting to Auckland this year, believe me it's important. I would rather walk than use BA.

You will be extremely pleased with the Singapore Airline service. We have flown with them several times now.
The Singapore airport is also the best on the planet.
