I can't imagine that anyone's partner would seriously deny or be resentful of their other half for making a mercy visit to a sick and elderly parent. If I were your partner I would be pushing you out of the door telling you to go, no matter what the cost, because its just not worth dithering about and you may face a lifetime of regret if you don't.

Yes, this. Get the ticket and go see your dad. Your partner will forgive you (unless there's something quite wrong about him/her) but you may never forgive yourself if you don't.
