Default Shortstay accommodation in Auckland

Hie there

Is there anyone who can recommend a good lodge, motel, hotel suitable and reasonable to stay in for say 2 weeks upon arrival in central or northern Auckland for 2 adults and a 10 year old girl.

Many thanks

The Top 10 holiday park in Takapuna is good. They may have changed their title, but easy to find. It is cheap and central for eating, shopping and transport to the city and around.

They do 'luxury' cabins sleeping four for around 60 dollars a night. These have TV, fridge, cooking facilities, two rooms (sleeps four) and a toilet (but no shower). However, the shower facilities on the site are good.

Hi benjie,

We used these for our first 2 nights whilst we waited for our dogs. Really central, clean and perfectly pleasant. I can't remember the cost though and couldn't find it on their website - but you can fill in an enquiry form for it no doubt.

Hi Benjie, I would recommend that you stay in Takapuna or on the North Shore rather than in central Auckland, as the centre can be pretty dull in the evening. There is much more life around Takapuna in the daytime and also in the evening. It is central to lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, whereas central Auckland is rather boring.

Also, Takapuna has the beach and lots of really pleasant walks, shops and cafes to spend your money. Central Auckland is also a short bus ride from Takapuna and you can also hop down to Devonport and take the ferry back into the city.

Benjie, the Top 10 Holiday Park would probably be the cheapest in Takapuna, but there are a few hotels and short-term accommodation around the main street, near the beach (can't remember the names off hand, but if you do a search, you'll find them). One of the best fish and chip shops in Auckland is also on the main Takapuna street, just opposite the North Shore Times office.

There's also a Tourist Office there as well with loads of info and brochures.
