Default Shipping per cubic foot rather than container

Hi Guys

I have read a lot of the threads advising about negotiating on containers etc but we are only shipping by the cubic foot as only have personal belongings, no furniture or anything. I got a qoute from Ango Pacific for 120 cubic foot for £812 and another from PSS for £823 but not sure how to proceed or whether it is worth negotiating. I suppose I could ring others and say what quote I got and they could beat it but say when we pack up we only have 80 cubic foot surely they will just charge us the standard cost of that amount and the negotiating will have been for nothing.

Has anyone been through this and negotiated based on boxes or cubic foot and if so any tips? Im thinking at the moment that we just go with the one we prefer which was Anglo Pacific but don't want to pay over the odds if it isnt necessary.

thanks everyone
Jayne (2 months to go and scared but excited

We had 162 cu.ft and used excess-baggage.com (Natalie), aka 1st Contact and it cost £977 door to door from Hove to Melbourne. 41 boxes, mostly tea-chest size+

$99 Quarantine charge, it's all arrived safely and on time so can fully recommend them. (Grace were the receiving agents over here) They store them for a month free of charge too.

Did a whole container myself but..... if you do go for a partial load do remember it could take longer to ship because they have to wait for a full load, and at the other end MAF will be more likely to want to have a look!

In terms of negotiating...yes DO! I got several hundred pounds off just by getting several quotes and going back to my favorite with the cheapest which they matched and then some!

We used Pickfords who were great.
