Shipping of new items
Dear all,
I'm sure this question would have posted before, but would welcome any comments/advice.
We have been told by a removal company that MAF would charge on a 10% duty fee on the NZ value of any item that looks new and for which you don't have proof of purchase over 12 months ago. We were planning on shipping fairly new fridge-freezer and washing machine. Any views would be appraciated, thanks.

Bit of a myth that one. MAF wouldn't charge anything anyway, Customs could if they thought you were importing for gain but wouldn't as it would be obvious you are relocating and just bringing your stuff.
Enjoy the trip!

Oh yes, I brought a brand new boxed and sealed Vax carpet cleaner/hoover too! MAF obviously wanted to look at this and he was the person to unwrap it. He took one look into the box and cleared it
