Exclamation Shipping Forecast?

We are planning to call in several Companies for overseas removals quotes in the next few days and would really appreciate a quick reply with recommendations from your experience based on price and service?

Our friends that used Crown Relocations said they were excellent at the UK end but lousy service in Dunedin
As we are coming to Christchurch she was not certain whether this was valid for us?

All replies appreciated. Thanks in advance

Barnes of Lincoln. Cheaper than the rest, by far and superb service to boot!

Pickfords was good for us. Cheapest didn't break anything and it was on time even transported car and motorbike here and sorted the checks needed.

We are about to go with Crown. We only have 14 boxes already packed so don't need a container so going with groupage to get it shipped as much cheaper.

Crown were by far the cheapest and by a long way the most helpful when getting quotes. They also come back really quick even though I've been emailing there Birmingham branch from Auckland.

Been quoted 507 GBP for 70c ft of groupage, shipping time of 10-16 weeks, which is fine for us as we are already here and in no rush to fill up the house with stuff They told us they are currently sailing every 2-3 weeks.

Hi folks

Thanks a million for all the info. Progress on our house sale is painfully slow but as prospective purchasers have a deadline to move in, I'm hoping the solicitors can accelerate their efforts. We now hope to arrive in Chch early to mid August.

It's half term hols here next week so we are all off to Center Parcs for a last hurrah before getting seriously organised... that'll be the day

Hi Dewb,

We will ship our stuff the week before we move out of the house direct to N.Z. then have a week to clean and move to my folks - just live a couple of mins drive away - so we will just take the stuff we need to live with ie bare basics ( hard with 2 girls, however...)then when we arr in CHCH we 'll stay with OH's parents for a bit, gets the girls settled in school, then its the summer hols, off to the marlborough Sounds, then hopefully our stuff will arr end Dec, thats allowing 16 weeks, in time for getting a rental property or all being well a new house, have to play a lot by ear!!!

We went with Crown when we moved across in Oct last year.

The quote was not the cheapest but we got on well with the Crown Rep and were pleased with the quick communications etc in the UK before packing.

On move day two Liverpool lads turned up in a white van with no Crown logos etc! but they were great and packed things very quickly.

The problems started after that. Our stuff arrived a month late as they had not put on container on the boat in the UK even though they told us they had! After that the communication from the NZ side of Crown was basically crap with one owrd email answers.

In the end we got some of our money back by complaining and because of this experience we would not recommend Crown but as you have read on here many other people have been impressed ............. luck of the draw I think

Oh how horrid for you you are right though luck of the draw. Did love the sales pitch from them " we are premium packers & shippers" read we are expensive

Much research on here has led me to conclude some folk have nothing but good things to say about some companies and others have nothing but bad experiences, no one company stand out
