DO do a full inventory, just in case.

Sorry to hear you had some bad luck.

Our removal company did a full inventory, 187 boxes listed with a description on of each box!!! We also did an inventory for insurance. We 'borrowed' the removal company list for insurance, filled that in a posted it to Letton Percival

Pay to ship door-to-door or go to port yourself and deal with the MAF stuff? We're looking at 600 more dollars to get the stuff through port (not even to our home; just to get all the MAF taken care of) than "to port". Is it stressful enough that the 600 bucks will be worth it?

Thanks; when we get there I promise I will post really useful info everywhere about shipping.
Hi we did a Ship to nearest port, in otherwords it came into Auckaland port and that was transported to Napier by ship or road ot something, which is when we did the MAF paperwork. They did an inspection onsite for $50 as we could tell them from our inventory which boxes were of interest to them (friggin fishing flies!!) ANWAY the paperwork is easy, you will need a fax machine to get customs clearance forms and things to the shipping office for them to release it to local port. Sounds complicated but really, I have neuronedissasociation disorder and I managed it.

Our local MAF and customs office were very helpful and surprising unofficious.

Just makes sure you have a clear inventory or whats in each box and that each box is has a clear label on it.

We used "pack and send" from Fremantle and they were very good and 1/2 price to "shipping companies" however we didnt have a lot to bring. Lucky for us its call got to go back again at the end of the year.
