Settlement interview - any advice?

Hi

Well after months and months of waiting, we finally have a settlement interview with the case officer. OH is an electrician but doesn't have a job offer yet.

Anyone had a settlement interview and can tell us a bit about it? It's going to be a phone interview so just want to be prepared for questions.

Thanks in advance.

What they REALLY want to know is that you will be able to settle quickly AND get a job! SO.... get your answers ready beforehand!
Why do you think you will be able to settle in quickly?
What are you doing about jobs?
How are you going to meet people - this will back up why you will settle easily!
Why NZ????
Have you been to NZ? If not - why is that not a problem to you?
How are your finances & how will they help you settle quickly etc?

You get the idea!

Tell them what they want to hear and you'll be fine! ;)

its just like the kinda grilling u get off friends and family - so it really is nothing to worry about.

they will be very quiet the other end while they type up your answers, so dont expect too many encouraging noises.

and remember, they are not trying to catch you out.

will last about 20 minutes - really nothing to worry about!

Thanks all. It seems that I'm not part of the interview - just my OH. The case officer said that it should be straight forward after having assessed his qualifications, etc so fingers crossed.

I will pass on your comments to him though just to be on the safe side, as I think they will be a help.

Thanks again.
