Selling your NZ house.

So, three hours after our first open home, we're taking an agreed offer to the lawyers.
Compared to eighteen months of selling in UK, got to admit we like the system here.
I know things can still go pear shaped, but we did a private sale, and would've been gutted if we'd paid real estate comission! Go Homesell.

Congrats, :fingerscrossed: it all goes smoothly.
From what we have seen the selling process over here is very geared towards the seller

It is no wonder that the selling process is geared towards the seller since he is the one paying the agent's fees of (at least) 3% plus GST (for the Math-shy, for a 500K sale you are talking approximately 20K in commission, admin fees and marketing, not including solicitor fees).

On the other hand, since the agent's commission varies little if you sell for 500K or 470K (assuming a 3% commission, the difference for the agent will only be $900 but 30K to the seller) it is really a 2-sided coin since what the agent wants is a deal; regardless of the specific price achieved, THE AGENT ALWAYS WINS!

We did the signatures yestarday.
Our buyer then rang the folks we sold through after realising they could save nearly twenty grand of commission.
Cheers all, lookie lookie time now. Thankfully, the buyers have said we can rent for two hundy a week til we find our next place. The whole deal was all done on a handshake by the way.
Sometimes people are just nice. Cheers Bob and Trish:thumbsup:
