Default Seeing a Doctor in Wellington

My girlfriend is unwell at the moment, in Wellington, only here on a 1 year work visa at the mo, so not entitled to free health care. Does anyone know what the procedure is for seeing a doctor and cost as well?

I know injury's are covered but believe you have to pay for illness.

Cheers,

Scottish

We've had to get ourselves put on a waiting list for a doctor, but in the interim as we are now on a waiting list we can just walk into Kenepuru Hospital and see a doctor there - paying just a little over the odds for the pleasure.

Try the after hours medical centre Adelaide road 8am to 11pm, will cost about $50-70, seen pretty quickly, ED will cost you minimum $221.00 plus costs for any investigations.

The medical centre in Plimmerton will take new patients as long as they are not already registered with a GP in the greater Wellington area. I took myself down there a few days ago and have no complaints - with an ACC form filled out, it cost me $25 for the appointment and $4 for antibiotics.
I know this probably won't help the original poster but for the Porirua posse - if you are not already registered, give them a call.
