Second hand car dealers - Auckland
Can anyone recommend a second hand car dealer in Auckland. Basically we will be looking for a Ford or a Toyota (nothing too big), about 3-5 years old in July.
We want something that is reliable and not too expensive to service or repair. So if you have any other recommendations of makes that would be good to.

Auckland car fair supposed to be a decent place to buy...

best value from dealers are usually "new to NZ", ie ex-japanese imports
these can be had from a variety of dealers/importers
we used Croydons in Henderson and they were good, just round the corner/down the road from the NZIS office and the folks in the office recommended them.
to get an idea of prices/range see:
http://www.croydons.co.nz/
also there is autotrader to look at:

bear in mind that some unscrupulous traders sell cars cheaper but with horrendous deals on finance - interest rates are high!
the car fair at ellerslie is worth a visist but if you are not there first thing then the vehicles are not much cheaper than the dealers ex-Jap ones, most of the bargains were gone by the time we arrived.
we hired a "rent-awreck" style toyota for a few weeks whilst sizing up the options, that is not too expensive and may be worthwhile to prevent an expensive "mistake" on the purchase front!
oh yeah dont forget Turners' auctions:

good luck

The car was purchased after being independently checked by the AA, the price also included 6 months warrant of fitness and registration
