SCHOOLS
Hi my son is 15 this year, we are hoping to move to NZ next June.
What age do children finish school in NZ?

I'm sure I read somewhere that kids finish school at 18 but I maybe wrong I'm sure someone will be able to correct me.

15 if they're a bit tick and 17 if they're not so tick. It could depend on when they're born in the year - so it could be 16 if a bit tick or 18 if no so tick.

The legal age that kids can leave school is 16. You can apply for early release but you have to have a very good reason, be very close to 16 and the Ministry of Education are trying to make this option much harder to get consent for.

Students are obliged by law to attend school until they are 16 years old.
