School lunch money (NZ)
Just wondering, if you give your kids money for school lunch rather than a packed lunch everyday, how much do you give them and how old are they?

I pack my eleven-year-old daughter's lunch. The offerings from the tuck shop seem to comprise a horror mixture of minced mutton fat, preservatives and tomato sauce. Today she got a homemade masaman curry (a Thai Muslim curry), rice and a slice of lemon cake. Yesterday she had chicken wings with saffron rice garnished with sultanas. Tomorrow looks like it may be mac 'n' cheese and a banana.
My daughter's school has banned fizzy drinks and discourages sugary boxed fruit juice. Most kids seem happy enough with their water bottles.

Tuck shop is expensive and full of yukky stuff that kids love to eat and isn't good for them...
My boys have a pack up lunch that they make themselves - pretty good at aged 8 and 6 They are pretty good at sorting the Groups out so that they have one from each Group = healthy lunch.
