Am i right in thinking the leaving age is 15. Therefore if my son is 15 in september ,he would leave school at the end of the school year which is December.
Scary thought, only seems like yesterday i was bringing him home from hospital!

I think i am right in saying kids here can leave school at the end of year 11, there seems to be quite a difference in ages in each year at school,my daughters 15 next June but she is only going into year 10 in February so would not be eligable to leave school next December.

They sit there main exams at the end of year 11,if they pass they can leave,or stay on till year 13 and resit..If this is wrong i am sure someone will correct me...Jacky

You are thinking of the minimum leaving age which is 16. There is no requirement for your son to leave school at that stage. The legal requirement is 6-16 years for the minimum level of education.
