Morning
Had dinner last night with the girlies and a couple of their mums, one having arrived from the UK on Friday.
She flew via the US and was directed by her travel agent to a website where you are required now by US immigration to register your intention of travelling through the US.

DO NOT PAY ANY MONIES TO COMPLETE THIS INFO
Apparantly the scam is that they will charge you $49.50 to download the guide to complete the info and you cannot proceed any further with your application until you do so.
It was only when the said lady got to LA and there were announcements and posters everywhere stating that the US authorities do not charge you that she realised that she had been done, and talking to others on the same flight so had they.

Preregistration is required but i think the scam is paying $50 for it.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
A quick trawl through Google produces two site - http://www.esta.us/ and http://www.travelauthorization.org/ both of which look quite official but are total SCAMS
Avoid them like the plague
But remember, if you are planning to visit or transit through the US under the visa waiver scheme, you must fill in the online form at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

The problem seems to be those flying from the UK trying to register on the site.
