Salaries
Hi,
With an expected total combined salary of 100,00nz dollars. What can we expect our standard of living to be like.
We will be renting in or around Wellington.
We have 2 children who are both at school.
I know this is a little vague, but any help or examples would be great.

Just noticed you come from Nottingham, that's where we lived. Now our doggy is living in doggy heaven, spoilt dog demands 2 beach walks a day. lovely this evening watching the sun set over Kapiti Island. Really does beat our dog walks in Nottingham.
Good luck

with a 100k in Wellywood, after tax I think you'llbe just about comfortable, not pretty good.
I think the cost of living here has gone up heaps in the last couple of years.
But welcome to NZ

may I suggest you have a look round Trademe for rental costs. Yes further outside Wellington Centre rents are going to be cheaper but you then have to factor in travel costs. You also will probably want to factor in the weather. Its not called Windy Welly for no reason.
Also you will want to factor in schools for the children.
I'd personally do a budget planner, try and work out outgoing from you disposal income each fortnight (most jobs pay fortnightly and you get taxed on every penny), so foods, travel, outings, school costs, utilities, clothes, doctors costs etc and then see what you can actually afford for rent then take your areas on that.

Re: Salaries
That's actually a question I need to know anyhow
So! Anyone know about an airport shuttle from the cost - how often does it run and how much?
