Rural area's of Wellington
Due to work reasons we need to relocate from Auckland to Wellington and plan to be there in time for our oldest daughter starting the 2010 school year there.
We're considering building a new house in the Pauatahanui area based on having looked there in 2007 and the fact there are some decent looking lifestyle blocks there.
Anyone here living in the general Pauatahanui area who could maybe let us know the ups and downs of the area?

Pauatahanui hey!
There is only a local parade of shops with a dairy, small local supermarket, restaurants, coffee shops and the infamous lighthouse theatre. Better shops are in Porirua 10 mins away or Lower Hutt 20 mins over the haywards. Has a good local primary school with plans for a senior secondary school to be built in Whitby if all goes well. It has a Golf Course if you into Golf... Is s good area flanked by good areas in Whitby, Cambourne, Plimmerton, Paremata and Papakowhai...

Good luck getting that secondary school built. It’s been on the cards since Whitby started being developed in the 70s. I personally think there should be one built there but heck by having the private school go ahead of a public school, well a slightly different path was set by that precedent.
Pauatahanui is nice but how important is access to public transport for you?
