Re: Roof Insulation
I was quoted for pink batt R3.6 for the ceiling - seems to be 112/bag at mitre 10. If I need a lot of bags would they do a deal or any suggestions where else to source?

Re: Roof Insulation
mmmm, came across this glasswool as an alternative - seems to be a bit safer to install:
insulation installation - How to Install Earthwool glasswool insulation
bit less expensive too - anyone heard of it?

Re: Roof Insulation
This gets more complicated the more you look.... polyester seems to be easier to install and doesn't compact as much over time... baaaaa.

Re: Roof Insulation
another tip, if you find the same stuff at one DIY store and then find it at the same or slightly more expensive at another ask them to give you their best price. So take photo's of the product and cost from store to store. we saved quite a bit of money doing this, and actually got a very discount from the same store in a different area.

Re: Roof Insulation
I've obviously developed some sort of phobic reaction after years of working around the stuff, 'cos there ain't a chance in hell of getting me into a tin covered roof with any type of insulation. The irritation and discomfort I've always encountered means the guys that do it all day every day are more than welcome to earn some money off me, yep clearly gone soft

Re: Roof Insulation
I am a firm believer in 'everyone should earn a living' and I have no issues with sometimes getting a bloke in to do a job that I probably could do (often, badly) myself.
Does sometimes seem that NZ has an obsession with doing everything themselves (often, badly). I do wish that the tosser who owned this house before us hadn't done quite so much (always, badly) in the house - that we have had to endlessly rip out and get done properly.

This was one of the things that the owner came over to check had been done to specs - also had another bloke with him - it was their policy for two other people to check and sign off any installation. Like i said, I am happy with that.

Re: Roof Insulation
It's a load extra to get them to do the ceiling so think I'll have to do myself. Have mitre 10 out tomorrow who have 30 percent off so maybe they can Install what I want for same price but can't see it.
