Hiya, welcome to the thread!
My hubby was in Afghan also when the interviews were being held . So he had to come to NZ [Auckland] for his . We used it as a recce for our peace of mind and im glad he did it . I suppose it showed commitment and he got the job! I have always found the airforce recruitment personnel very helpful and will try to help problems as much as they can.
Good luck with your ''NZ adventure'' it will be ups and downs all the way!

Cool Re: RNZAF / RAF transfers.

The recruitment team are fantastic. The whole package is fantastic, Just be prepared to drop from an Air Force to the cub scouts. Don't get me wrong, but I came here from an operational Regt Sqn, 4 tours in Iraq and one in Afghan. Now I sharpen pencils all day. I do enjoy my job, but its not taxing in any shape or form. NZ is lovely, the RNZAF try hard to be an Air Force but lack the Operational experience to be one. Think hard before you make the leap of faith. ps I wasn't a Gunner, I was a regular Quin. I'm no front line fighting echelon. Just a guy who is proud of what i have done and what i know how to do.

My children are loving school. The system is very different than the UK though and takes abit of getting used to. Children start school on their 5th birthday so example they are 5 on the 6th of March and start on the 7th! They will have had 2 tester mornings the previous weeks to get them familiarized.
My daughter is 11 and she is Intermediate for 2 years. Then onto High school.
There is loads of info on the net. If you are based here in Auckland your children will goto either Hobsonville or Whenuapia both have websites.
Yes there are preschool it is called Kindie.
There quite a few kindies around this area so there wont be a problem getting him anywhere.

Hi!! It's actually bright and sunny with a 'wee nip' in the air. Not a bad day at all! I think its due to rain tomorrow though!! Typical! thought we were going to get our 2 weeks of summer the same as we did last April but no such luck. We've been here since 2001, Hubby is now in Marham and the boys and i are up here. Not ideal but there you go! We stay in Lhanbryde. Bought a place here 4 years ago. How long have you been in NZ?

18 months or so
Was last there Sept 06 before we headed out here, my sons are still there and most of my family. My eldest son plays with Mind Gone Blind - been to any of their gigs?
