Rent crises

What's the reality of the rental market in Christchurch? Allot of information says that it's hard to get a place, however when I look on trade me and real estate.com there's lots of properties available within it budget ($500pw)...

yes and there will be lots of people looking at the same properties. not sure what the rental market is like there but my advise would be to get to know the agents that hold them and be in touch constantly so they immediately think of you if something that fits comes up. make sure you have all the relevant needs like bonds, and up front rental money to show you are a good prospect.

Well to put it in perspective in 2015 our rent increased by 10% from $381 to $420 a week.

In 2016 it only went up $10 to $430 - demand is evening out as the rebuild of houses nears completion and more flats and properties are built to replace lost stock.
