Default Removals Companies

Does anyone have a list of all the (good) removals companies that ship from UK to NZ?

We have Pickfords coming round next week, and are going to book an appointment with PSS and Armishaws (as I get Mil discount with them).

Are there any obvious ones I'm forgetting???

(I know I could google but it doesn't work so well on my works computer)

I used Crown who were very good and delivered door to door. Some only deliver to a depot and subcontract others for final delivery.
Do not accept the price quoted as fixed, I told Crown someone else had beaten their quote, but I was still keen to use them if they could do anything with their initial price, they came back 500 pound lower.

We used Anglo Pacific and had a local subcontractor once it arrived in NZ to deliver from Port to house, AP handled it all though. I was happy with their service, our packers were awesome and very careful and clearly experienced at packing. I've also heard horror stories from others who have used AP so it really is down to the team you have on the day of the move.

We chose a third party insurance which was a lot cheaper than going with the AP package.

As JustCol recommends, definitely negotiate the final price you are quoted

We went with PSS International who sub-contracted NZ Van Lines for the Wellington port to house bit. Had a quote off three different removalists. PSS were mid range on price but the one we felt more comfortable with. £5k for our own 40ft container and included a hand built case for a huge glass table top we had at the time. That was also the full packing/unpacking service door to door. Was going to use Letton Percival in Liverpool for insurance as half the price of using the shipping company insurance but didn't need it in the end as my new NZ employer covered the lot on the company insurance. The two guy PSS team who did the packing in the UK were awesome. Took them best part of 4 days. No issues. NZ Van Lines at the Wellington end also did a great job and put together furniture for us before they left.

Just got back into work after our PSS appointment. Quote should be with us tomorrow, I post that when I get it.

Have to say, the surveyor was very professional, listened to what we had to say and even helped us out by telling us what to flat pack and what to leave built Etc.

Good new is, by his estimate we can fit in a 20ft container. Now just to wait to see what the other companies say.

A great place to start is to check out FIDI website for a list of FAIM certified international removal companies that serve your area to make sure whoever you're using is fully qualified, licensed and independently vetted for overseas moving.

There are lots more tips about choosing reputable removals companies and your different options over on our vendor forum for International Removals advice. Hope it helps!

Kirsty,
Thanks for the reply, I should explore the full forum more often as I didn't even know that your Vendor Forum existed. Thanks again, and I'll read through the info.
