Hey,

For a 20ft container, the cost is usually about £4000. There is also other costs that you cant plan for. MAF fees are one, there is a thread Here that will give you some info on that.

This is another thread where there are individual costs of moving.

Hope this helps,

Caz x

Hi,

We have just had four quotes, and the best one was from pickfords, the second best quote was from PSS, but as Pickfords are based in Wellington we decided to go with them.
it will cost us £3,170 for a 20` container, but with insurance and MAF fees we recon not much change from 4k.

Do NOT repeat NOT use EMS Hansards. We did and they were USELESS. They stole stuff, they lied, they mislead and they were a bunch of wan*ers. and they were expensive.

Would definitely recommend Pickfords. Really professional. Good service both in Uk and NZ. Not cheap but nothing is in the immigration game!:)

I've spoken to other ex-pats who used Crown and they all were very happy with them

Still waiting for our stuff! 11 weeks now - with Britannia, no idea where it is - know it could be on a boat! Shitty attitude when emailed to ask. So won't recommend them. Hindsight would have sold the lot before and bought again over here. If you can't buy it here you don't need it - we have lived on old borrowed crap and survived. Why do we have so much stuff in the first place?

Some stuff more expensive but what you save on the shipping you can spend here. Very upset with our removal company!

We used Allied Movers who are based in NZ, we used them through Mov****.com and got a discount. They were brilliant, communication was brilliant, kept in contact at all times by phone and email. We paid £4,000 for a 20ft (it would have been cheaper but we paid when the exchange rate was way down 2.42). We had our furniture door to door 6 weeks and nothing was broken, very pleased with them.

We didn't take out their insurance though, we used Letton and Percival, allot cheaper.

All the best

Crown for us, and the cost included MAF. We used Letton Percival for insurance.

Crown were very good both in the UK and here in NZ - so good that we used them when we moved from our rental to our new home. Hope this helps

I'd didn't have a great experience with Allied Movers who organised NZ side of my move, and certainly wouldn't deal with them again. Also if you're in the Yorks/Derbshire area, I'd avoid Clockwork Lawlers, who took over the business of the latter.
Also make sure you get insurance that covers liquidation, standard insurance does not.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Pickfords and Crown appear to come out the clear winners. Has anyone used Anglo Pacific? :unsure:Thanks

Ditto, have them coming in 7 days to pack up most of the house:eek: We found Crown a bit more expensive but liked the idea of an office in New Zealand to deal with incase of problems rather than a second party who have had the job sub-contracted to them.......heard and read of problems with this. Also liked that MAF fee included so no-one trying to rip you off for it a 2nd time. Letton Percival much cheaper than Crown own insurance by about £1000 for us.

Yes, we did. Wouldn't recommend them though. Started off the day by carefully packing and individually wrapping slippers , then by the end of the day they were stuffing cushions and quilts in with the bikes:ohmy:. Hence all our bikes needed re-adjusting when we needed to use them. Also other things not very carefully packaged, bit of a rush job. Not very happy as we had a few breakages.
