Hello,
As a staff nurse it depends on how long you have been qualified for. There are 5 steps that go from new graduate to year 5. As from the 31st March 08 these rates are $42,848 going up to step 5 $57,854 (you automatically go up each step each year). Senior nursing positions are a separate grading, same salary for general or mental health. These figures are for staff working for the district health boards. (unsocialble hours/penal rates are on top of these salaries)

Where were you looking to work? How long have you been qualified for?

Over $65,000 I should imagine, but don't quote me. Also you can get an extra $4000 on top of your salary for doing a portfolio demonstrating you are an expert nurse (called PDRP Professional development and recognition programme).
Also top staff nurse salary goes up to $60,159 on 31st march 2009
Where you looking for work? what specialty? Fancy a job in Rotorua?
Cheers
Gill

Forgot to add that community CPN type posts go up to $63,868, and is an 8 step scale however the last 3 steps are subject to annual performance appraisal.

Hi Sean

Don't know the excate amount but think it's somewhere about $1700 a fortnight inclusive of antisocial and penal rates (but after tax). Sorry can't be more specific.
