If you like crime have you tried Harlan Coben - he writes about a great character called Myron Bolitar who is a sports agent who solves crimes. The writing is good with a dry sense of humour. Great books

I'm reading 'A Confederacy of Dunces' atm by Jonathan Kennedy Toole. Quite different, I'd recommend it!

Oh, and if you're looking for a short story 'The Pigeon' by Patrick Suskind is delightfully odd (well, I liked it...)

Could someone read “The Spirit Level” for me and tell me if it’s any good?

Keep in mind that I like books from times when it was socially acceptable not to be retarded so complex narrative structure and that sort of thing don’t scare me.
