Cheers yes...pension wise would you be better off in UK? I suppose that could be exit strategy..sell up here and return then. This is on the wrong thread...maybe as he is back there at mo, he will discover the many delights of UK if you avoid the Daily Mail.
It really hasn't changed much really....it's same old same old that we have all seen before if old enough. Bad economic times (but only if jobless) followed by good economic times and so it goes on....
I think free GP visits is a major positive when you are retired..as for the elderly cats...well I am not a pet lover so I would not put them before my personal happiness/financial well-being.

Which is precisely why our younger two kids didn't go to her. I only mentioned her because she was the cheapest in Dunners at that time (and I assume still is), and there is nothing wrong with her work just her manner.

In Wellington i.m.e.Dental hygiene is roughly $100 per half hour; root canal over 2 very long appts $1200, crown similar. Very similar to UK private rates, in fact slightly cheaper based on London.

I feel very sorry for NZ adults who can't afford care because the Government offers them very little support (unlike UK) but resenting the dentist for that is a bit like resenting any professional you pay for a service. Dollars are not pounds...how much does a Ladies hairdresser charge per hour? - does anyone ever moan about paying for that?
I didn't know that dentists charged by the hour. Note to self: Stop chatting my lovely dentist up

Lol ....no not really...there are set procedure fees but they sort of average out at x per hour. A check-up which might take 20 mins or 30 mins if you chat a lot...could always be $120. 2 fillings taking 45 mins could come in at $400...but you've been booked in for an hour. A root canal might be $1200 over 2 appts totalling 3 hours (that one is 400 per hour)...I suppose that's the one I had in mind when I made the comment.
