Default question on foreign army rank

Hi guys,

something stupid I need to ask again:
My OH is an officer of the reserve of the Finnish army (his rank is roughly equivalent to a British lieutenant). Is this something that we should mention somewhere during the immigration process? Can it be an advantage or a disadvantage when applying for a PR or for a job? Is this thing something that is favoured or frowned upon?

He has the rank due to obligatory military service for men in our country, so he is not in active service and has never been a professional soldier. However, he went through a year-long military training, including a 5-month course in the reserve officer academy. Here an officer's rank is usually considered as a benefit for almost any job, but how are things in NZ? Should we mention this or keep quiet about it? He's not particularly looking for any military related jobs.

thanks again for any answers,
Mgee

edit. crap. I just realised I should have posted this under NZ immigration... This is what you get when you should be in bed and fast asleep and not reading these forums! Moderators, please feel free to move this under immigration...
