Question Question about visitors visas

Hi everyone, we are new to the forum. My husband and I have two of our three daughters living in NZ (the third one to follow shortly!). We plan to move to NZ permanently through family sponsorship once they have been there 3 years (2 more years to go...). In the meantime we want to visit as frequently as we can. This leads me to our question about the visitors visa:

We travelled to NZ in April 08 and stayed for 3 weeks. In our passports it states that we had to leave by October 08. We were led to believe that visitors were only allowed 6 months in one year and then had to be out the country for the next 6 months. Does this mean that we can't return till 6 months after Oct 08 (ie April 09), even though we were only there for the 3 weeks? We've read the NZIS website over and over and it's still unclear!

Thanks for your help

No! If you're in the country for three weeks, then leave... you have to wait three weeks again before re-entering... basically however long you're in the country you have to be out for the sme perod of time before re-entering... but saying that i do no people that stayed for six months, then went to oz for a two weeks holiday then came back and got stamped for another six months. You can also as british passport holders stay for up to one year in total if you can show the finanacial meas to support yourself...

Merry Christmas - hope this helps...

Hi

Take a look at

http://www.justlanded.com/english/Ne...rmits/Visitors

which gives a little more information on visitors visas

Particularly :-

"Visitors may stay for a maximum of nine months (which can be made up of a number of shorter periods) in an 18-month period. Once you’ve reached the maximum, you’re required to remain abroad for nine months before returning to New Zealand as a visitor. Visitor permits can be extended by a further three months on application to the NZIS, although this is at their discretion and you're required to be able to support yourself financially without working."

Hope this helps
