Just thought this might be of interest for people looking at buying in different areas here.

In today's Herald on Sunday -

The Movers

%age rise in house prices for the North Island outside Auckland 2007

1. Gisbourne +13
2. Tauranga +12
3. Palmerston North +11

The Drifters

%age change in house prices for the North Island outside Auckland 2007

1= Central Wellington -3
1= Hutt Valley -3
3. New Plymouth -2

There is lots more specific details, but I can't type the whole article up!:o

They also say "For those seeking a bargain Wanganui remains far and away the best bet ..."

Re: Property - What is a Hotspot Not ?!

Other Journos are predicting a house price "readjustment" and the property developers quoted on teletext say NZ property is not over-priced and the Govt. should not try to control values......even though they admit that affordability in NZ is rock bottom.....
BBC now saying we're in for the mother of all recessions - well at least since the 1930s anyway......
all "the same old same old" to me......
but recession is good for some businesses :blink:
