Problem with Shipping - Crown relocations

Hi All,

Our items were collected on 10th august by crown. We have now moved to Auckland and are waiting for the items to arrive.

Crown has given us access to view the progress online. and the volume mentioned was 7 cubic metres where as the estimated was 7.8 cubic metres. However the quote amount didnt change. So we contacted crown and no they said tht the collected volume is 7.8 cubic metres and what was entered on the system was incorrect.

We now do not have a proof of what was entered on the system as they have changed it.

We have now lost trust and are wondering if there is any way we can find out what the actual volume is. when the items arrive here is there any documentation we will receive from the shipping company or is the only receipt from Crown?

Please help.

Did you have an inventory of the contents? There should be a list for MAF/ Custom purposes.

Crown will contact you when it arrives, to inform you of which box numbers the authorities are interested in and then when they are delivered, you tick the boxes off as they come into your property, then if there are any discrepencies that is when they show up.

We used Crown and indeed we are in the process of using them again to shift over some items from the UK. I would not hesitate in recommending them to anyone and I think there are lots of people on here with a simialr view.
Hopefully you are worrying for nothing :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

Hmmmmmmmm happy but curious.

We have just received our container and there were lots and lots of small boxes, with lots and lots of packaging, where perhaps a larger box with less packaging would have surficed. Therefore increasing the cubic meterage. It was a corporate relocation and I do wonder if it would have cost us as much if we were paying for it ourselves.

The chaps who were unloading the boxes commented on how light they were and how many small boxes had been used.

Curious :sneaky:

Was anything broken?
Did everything arrive safely?

Our stuff was shipped over from UK using Pickfords to Wellington. It was packed up on 5th August and arrived last week in Wellington so yours seems to be taking a long time, but maybe it's different going into Auckland? Pickfords offered online tracking - can you track your boat through Crown?

On arrival we went to Pickfords office and had to fill out customs declaratons forms. You will need your inventory as the MAF forms ask you to list which boxes have Xmas decs, bikes, garden furniture in etc so they know which boxes to inspect. You'll also need them to tick off the boxes into the house, so keep hold of it. You'll also need to give customs either your passport/visa or a certified copy of them.

In our case MAF checked 22 boxes and it's being delivered to our house on Tuesday, can't wait to see our stuff again

Hi Gill

So far everything has been ok. Nothing broken.

We were able to track our container and Crown were very good telling us it was going to be delayed for a couple of days. MAFF had a field day and looked in quite a few of our things: gardening equipment, patio chairs etc. They have kept the dog bedding, garden mulcher and golf cart to fumigate. The dog bedding had all been washed at 60 degrees before being packed, but I had unfortunately left some dog hairs on their beds. How I was supposed to remove them all I don't have a clue, but hey.

As it was a corporate move through Crown, they delt with all the MAFF stuff. I just had to fill in all the paperwork and send it back to them.
