Default Private Number Plates

Hi All

I know this may seen like a trivial question but I'll ask anyway.

Can I use my private number plate in NZ ?

If you mean your UK plate, I very much doubt it, but you can go to www.plates.co.nz where you can check to see if anything similar is available in NZ

You can have ANYTHING you like so long as its not toooooo rude. There's 'SHYTE' on one car in Palmy..probably refering to his life in Palmy I guess.

The max no of characters is 6 (or less if you chose). The minimum number is one character..I guess most of them will have gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. In any numeric format or alpha format. You can mix alpha and numeric or just have numbers or just have letters. My family surname 4 yrs ago only cost $400..not that I have it. Had a couple of p/plates in the UK when I had more money than sense!! I don't really care for them any more but understand why people have 'em. You can check on the above site to see if your plate is available.

1) You cant use UK plates in NZ
2) you can get the same plate in NZ if its available
3) if it is available you cant just keep your uk plates on the vehicle
4) NZ plates are metel and a different size you have to use them.

Hi there I'm pretty certain that you will need to register your car over here and get NZ plates on it, http://www.nzta.govt.nz/ this site should tell you exact though.

Thanks for all your replies. The plate means alot because Jim bought it for me and it's my name but I suppose it's not that important on the scale of things. Will have a look at what the have in NZ

Once again thanks for your help

It seems to me every other car on the road has a personal plate with every conceivable stupid and boring combination of AWLBLK /4LL BLK being the most popular, so that leaves plenty of choice for the rest of us.
