theres no such a thing in nz.

but I quite liked Cockle Bay. quite old area though- subtle, beautiful, clean, quiet. sort of hidden nice area I guess. loved the beach so much. so gorgeous,. seriously wanna retire there if I have loads of money when I get older.... but I doubt it..

There are lovely areas in Auckland, love it on the shore the best, by far nicest beaches... erm, Devonport is 'posh' but quite expensive to rent/buy... also Orewa is considered a wealthier suburb but quite an older generation.

If you've got a few million to spare you could possibly find something halfway decent in Remuera.

Failing that this sweet little do up is on the market for mere $1.25 million but you have to share the 1113m² section with two other properties.

Mission Bay is the other posh place to live.

There are particular places where monied sorts congregate in such places as Herne Bay, Grey Lynn, Mt Eden and St Heliers in mega million dollar houses. These areas still ain't particularly posh, cos you can buy the most expensive house in the street and end up living next door to a state house or an old rental shack that ain't seen a lick of paint since 1954.

I have no idea why Remuera is so popular with some.....

Way to over crammed with houses that are laughably overvalued.

According to the 'Where to live in Auckland' book, when we moved here in 2007 Whitford was one of the best places to live and described as the 'Beverly Hills' of Auckland. That last bit is laughable but we lived in Whitford for 2 years and its a great spot.

My husband is originally from Wolverhampton and there is a heap of difference between Penn and Lowhill for instance.

I have a British friend who lives in Orakei, between Remuera and Mission Bay. He lives in a bedsit under a posh house and takes great pleasure in pretending he owns the whole house in such a 'posh' area - sad eh!

I'd agree that Remuera comes to mind when you mention posh. Perhaps it's because all those D grade celebrities tend to live there. Expensive and posh seem to be one and the same here.

Sadly, it's still the case for a lot of people to have that all important 'right' address.

Paritai Drive in Orakei is by all accounts THE place to be. Mark Hotchin's (Hanover Finance crook) $50 million gin palace was described as a "temple to his ego" and that about sums it up.

Hi Yes thats basically it.

I removed the post because i could see it could easily be misunderstood.

I live in a nice area here and would like to in NZ not because im a snob because there are areas less than 10min drive away here that I would'nt (and police advise) not to drive through after dark....Etc

Also I don't see any issue in wantig to live in a nice area not to far from the shore etc.....We are moving to Nz to have the those luxuries etc.
