Hello :-)

Arriving in Christchurch early May on business, staying until August. Best bar for a friendly game of pool? Is there an active League? Any bar need an additional player? Thanks in advance.

Further, could someone please advise on current legislation relating to outdoor smoking areas at bars in Christchurch. Do any bars have such areas? Please note that I am fully aware of the health risks associated with smoking, both to myself and others, so anyone intending to divert this Thread needn't bother as I'm merely seeking current facts on legislation, as opposed to the services of an online Nanny. Thanks in advance.

Only place I've ever seen a pool team was in the RSA at Hobsonville in Auckland
Am really not sure if its even a thing here, no one seems particularly bothered by it

Smoking....just go outside, many places will have an area with bar leaners and stools...welcome to flavour country !!

The Rock Pool at 85 Hereford St is the best cbd bar with multiple tables in a pub environment. Cashmere club is the main hub for chch's pool leagues so you're in luck there. But ask around the bars, play for your fav bar, you rotate home and travel to away games around chch, sometimes slightly further out if I remember right

Bit late to this, so apologies

I highly recommend The Slate Room on Lichfield Street; only opened last year and the (American Pool) tables + cues are newer & in much better condition than The Rockpool. Better clientele too, imo. Rockpool can attract some unsavoury characters. They do decent food there, though.

I'm usually in The Slate Room once or twice a week if you want a game some time :)
