Default Poisoning in New Plymouth - is this for real?

The article doesn't say when it was written, maybe it's old news but even so the effects (if true) would still be there. Has anyone heard of this, is it true?

That article was from the year 2000 Kija.
2 points :
1) I wouldn't trust Investigate magazine as far as I could throw them personally. Too tabloidy usually without providing much proof of the things they claim.
2) The Watkins Dow plant there stopped making 245T in 1987.

Thanks for the info waikatoguy, it did seem a bit "hollywoody" if you know what I mean. Good to hear the plant closed down, I hope there aren't any remaining ill effects for the people there.
