Western Union? Can be done online or through a local agent. There is a transaction fee but I don't know how much it is.

You can do it online through paypal. When it arrives you can keep it in your account in pounds or $. They only charge you if you transfer it to a bank account, but it's not much.

A relative recently did that for my kids' birthdays. I've just kept the money in there and will use it next time I buy something from Amazon or book depository (yes, I did give the kids their cash!).

The other thing you could do is get him to buy an Amazon voucher. You can either spend it (free delivery to nz for some things if you spend over 25), or keep the voucher, give the kids the cash and use the voucher to buy the next lot of presents for people in the UK which avoids postage costs.

This is what we do and it works very well.
