If you have a valid Permanent Residency Visa you wont need a permit. Best place to look for a job is to actually go to NZ, otherwise look on trade me, seek etc

You have NZ residency so as Ellen points out, you don't need a permit or visa.

I see you are going to Christchurch. Plasters are also called gib stoppers here for internal finishings on walls but sometimes there are also renders on the outsides of houses.

As a tradesman you really need to be here in NZ to have the best chance of getting work. You may find cold calling works best as it can be all about word of mouth here.

Wayne,Christchurch massive re-build obviously.Auckland where I am going, they tend not to plaster as we would know it ,especially internally (all dry lined, then spray painted, and from what I was told sown up by the 'Asians' or to us the Chinese, hard to compete against their prices).Externally they use similar products to Sto,Monocouche. We are regarded as solid plasterers, because we can render using sand and cement.I was told to stress I was a solid plasterer otherwise you get lumped together with painters and paid accordingly! The Kiwi's I worked with were young, hardworking, always on price, and hoping for good weather!Hope this helps a little bit and maybe gets a few more plasterers replying.
