Places to stay close to Auckland?
 

We are coming over in March for a recci the last week we are traveling back to Auckland. We do not want to stay in the centre, maximum drive 1 hour.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I found most places north of the city across the bridge to be more than pleasant, particularly Gulf Harbour. Only took us 45mins to get into the city and 30mins on the ferry.

There are lots of nice places to stay outside the city. We live on the North Shore but often rent bachs at Orewa, Murawai or somewhere near a nice beach for the weekend.

Lovely place right on the waterfront. Bout a 40 minute drive into the city, or you can catch a leisurely ferry locally into the city and to Waiheke Island. We have settled in the area and love it here. It has everything we need for ourselves and our two teenagers. Good luck with the recce, I'm sure you'll like what you see. Carol.
