Places to get volunteer counselling placements in Auckland, other than Lifeline?
Hi
I'm a qualified Person Centred Counsellor from the UK. I am looking to live in NZ permanently. I am working as a mental health support worker and am keen to start some volunteer counselling work in Auckland whereas I can work as a qualified Counsellor and gain hours towards being accredited by the NZAC. I had an interview with lifeline which seemed potentially good but had disagreements as to the Counselling session I did for them. I'm not so picky about who I work for but I would just like to be working towards being accredited. If anyone has any ideas or leads it would be much appreciated. Thanks
Philip

Maybe Auckland Youthline - 0800 376 633 ?
Also I have a friend who is senior here:

I could ask him if you are still stuck.

Youthline certainly took a fair few students when I was doing my training.

How about the Samaritans
http://www.samaritans.org.nz/volunteer.php
Not sure really if this might be something you would be up for, but there are lots of places like Family Violence Helplines or Auckland Womens Centre see links below which lists several helplines and organisations, like Womens Refuge etc who might like some volunteers.

The Ministry of Womens Affairs: http://www.mwa.govt.nz/links.html
There's also: http://www.gamblingproblem.co.nz/
Hope that gives you some ideas anyway!
I'm sure also that some District Health Boards might be interested, they usually have Mental Health Crisis teams and support workers.
