Persimmons?
So what's the dos with persimmons?
I remember I tried one once, way back in the 70s when they were a novelty called 'Sharon Fruit' and I did not likey. My only recollection is of it being lip puckeringly bitter and yuck but never sure we did the right thing in biting it like an apple, with skin and all.
On the strength of that one tasting I never felt any desire to try again. , until this week after I was offered a bagful of them. I politely declined the offer but now curious to see if I could be persuaded to like them.
Have googled about a bit and some say slice them and eat like an apple, some say avoid the core and the seeds and others say eat only the 'jelly'. Now none the wiser, except I do now know that my earlier experience was apparently with an unripe fruit.

Yes u have to remove the skins first before u eat it. It does taste sweet and crunchy sometimes like an apples.

Oh yuk ! We've two persimmon trees on the section. We've pruned one so it no longer threatens the garage roof but bears enough fruit for the birds. The other one crept up, rather nastily, on the washing line , so Mr BEVS butchered it.
