I haven't riven past the actual site for a few months, They were just starting on the road leading off SH1.
We went and saw the huge model that was on display at the Westpac Centre though. It was very seductive with lots of twinkly lights. It looked like when its finished it will be very nice, although alot of the facilities that make it soooo nice like the beach area and stuff are likely to be some of the last things to be finished. So the question is do you buy and build early and live in a building site for years with little facilities but knowing you have an investment or wait to see how well established it gets, how acurate the building timeline is and till its got some facilities but by then you will be paying more for your land. A lot of sections have been bought by building companies for house and land packages, quite a few have been bought by private people who hope to flick the land on and make a profit or build and then sell for a profit.

We have a friend who lives in Waikuku Beach and it takes him 1 hr to get to his office in pretty much central Christchurch. When Pegasus gets established that time will only increase the bottle neck starts pretty much as soon as you are over the Waimakariri in peak time.

We looked and decided against which is just as well as my OH now works full time in Ashburton which is far enough away from Kaiapoi!!!!!!

If you like the American suburbia model it might be your thing, but most people I know here in ChCH couldn't think of anything worse. Of course if you are white, middleaged, like golf, don't like gnomes, garden sheds or fountains and don't want any "riff raff" living close to you, then it might be your idea of heaven.

Kinda agree with you there. It has the potential to turn out very 'stepford wives' Although having those facilities on your doorstep if you have children is very attractive cycle paths, beach hot pools etc. We live on a 'newish' estate in Kaiapoi and for us it works really well, there is a real community feel we know all our neighbours and have really close friends who live a short drunken stagger away (just as well!!) We have a reserve boundry and the kids can go off and play.
By the time Pegasus is finished our kids will be too old to get the benifit and will be moaning about how far it is from the malls. It would more suit families with kids under 13 and retirement people.
Saying that if it did tick all our boxes i would still be inclined to wait and see what kind of 'feel' the community there develops.
