HI EVERYONE,

THIS IS AN URGENT QUESTION . WE HAVE BEEN IN NZ 14 MONTHS NOW AND HAVE A RESIDENT VISA. MY DAUGHTERS PASSPORT EXPIRES IN 2 MONTHS SO WE WILL NEED TO GET HER A NEW ONE . CAN WE APPLY FOR A NEW PASSPORT FOR HERE IN NZ OR DO WE HAVE TO APPLY THROUGH THE UK AGENCY.

WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE POPPING OVER TO AUSTRALIA IN THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS BUT IS LOOKS LIKE IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN NOW. IM GUTTED!!!

All British passports are now processed in the UK I think. Go to gov.uk and follow the instructions as they're different for each country. There's been a lot in the media lately about backlogs and delays, and several threads in various sections on here about delays, some people waiting up to 4 months, but that was for a first passport I believe, hopefully a renewal would be quicker. Make sure you give them everything they ask for, as if you don't you might face an even longer wait.

Because of the HUGE backlog of passport applications overseas UK passports can be extended for a year. Get in touch with the British Consulate. They need to stamp your passport. Check with them that an extended passport is valid for entry to Australia.

Sorted it.
Managed to get a 12 Month extension on the passport because of the backlog in the UK.
I have to go to Queen st Auckland with a form and they will stamp and validate extention next week. They also have a list of Countries that accept extended Passports and Australia is ok.
