Panoramic photos - Paekakariki, Pauatahanui and Plimmerton
Today we went from Pauatahanui over the hill road to Paekakariki. It's a lovely drive... don't take a wide vehicle on that hill road though! Came across some people who obviously know the road very well. There's a rather interesting place along that road, too... check it out. Apparently you can camp there too.
Just gorgeous countryside on the hill road. Then when I was just thinking we should see the sea soon... we came across a lovely vantage point. Careful of the lack of barriers at the side of the road though.
Anyway, here are our photos from there:
From the viewpoint
On the right is the road continuing down to Paekakariki
Kapiti Island is on the left
The Fisherman's Table restaurant is at the very bottom of this photo
OK you can't eat the scenery, but it sure is gorgeous here!

OK, 5 photos together - forgive 'stapling' the photos together here. Hope this makes the page scroll, it should.
This is the view of Whitby / Golden Gate from the Pauatahanui to Plimmerton road.

Now on to Plimmerton. Hmm... well it's not doing the panorama thing right.
Well here are a couple anyway.
Here's the yacht club.
That's it. Thanks for looking.

Fab photos. Have just shown them to my OH who comes from Waikanae so these photos have made him very homesick. Went to Kapiti Island last year when we were visiting. It is a fab day out - we climbed to the top and the view is mind blowing.
Glad you are enjoing life in NZ - we are looking to return in the not too distant future.

You're very close to taking a photo of our place in that Plimmerton shot! Not a bad view of the ocean from every window! We take that road to Jac and Adie's, through 'power to the nui.' I heard Jac speeds along those back roads, tsk ,tsk.
Still hate it here though!

What You Hate the Most About NZ?
what makes you so upset ?
is it something to do with crazier dress sense Kiwi?
Hard choice to make: stay or go? ... Hang in there, the homesickness makes it even more fun to come home! ...
As I have said many times, I always prefer to be in the UK if I can however there is no way (moving back to UK)---- that is ever going to happen really ? -mainly it's because of my serious job here. apparently, I don't seem to have much choice in the matter unfortunately
every single day I imagine myself going back to the U.K 100 times x or more, reading British stuffs- blogs, news and listening to British music - The Specials ~ William Sterndale Bennett Piano Sixtet, Op 8 (It makes me very sad - bloody home sick!) but I try to be happy where I am now.
I think of Britain as my true home
Cheer up

Love the pics, was going to take a look for this place today, so thanks for that.
So many of you sound homesick should we be worried that this is not the answer to our prayers? We are looking forward to NZ but are starting to doubt it!
