hi,Panmure itself imho is a bit run down, job wise, theres probably a lot to offer as it seems a bit industrial, big car sales garages there....has a bit of a reputations with gangs in that area too.....

Hi,
At the moment its takes me approx. 3/4 of an hour to get into Liverpool, which suits us.
If oh tuck this job, with the same drive time, which areas would you suggest.
Regards

it would be wrong of me to suggest a place for you to live without really knowing you both,
but Eastern suburbs ,where we stay is nice (can be pricey to buy)but you are buying into good schools in this area....
which pushes house prices up....
glad to show you around when you come for recci,..jacky

As per Jacky Panmure is a bit tired with a lot of wooden style housing with a few expensive ones dotted around The main high street is tired with a lot of cheap shops.
They are developing the the quarry at the mo which will be about 2000 new homes in Mt Wellington.
Dannemora is the new build area with Botany the shopping centre cinema bowling alley and ice rink.
Flat Bush will be the next new build wth 40,000 homes and self contained with shopping and schools.
Sylvia Park is the newest mall at Mt Wellington.
Howick and Cockle Bay overlook the sea but you have to be careful if you have children with the school zoning.
Bucklands Beach is popular with uk families for the schools ie Macleans people will move house or even sell up to rent to get in the zone that includes Kiwi famlies also.
On the other side is Eastern Bays Glendowie Mission Bay St Heliers.
Beachlands is just past Whitford and sarab lives out that way.
The Where to live in Auckland Book is handy to get to know the areas meanwhile go onto www.barfoot.co.nz onto buying choose an area and then choose a house click onto about the neighbourhood it will have info from the book.
Hope this helps

Re: Panmure, Auckland, any comments on area
Hi
As others have mentioned, Panmure is OK to work in but I dont think that great to live in.
Much nicer suburbs over the water (via the Panmure Bridge!) such as Sunny Hills, Farm Cove, Half Moon Bay and there are some nicer parts (and some more affordable parts ) of Pakuranga.
Note that if you live in these Eastern parts you wll be going with the peak hour traffic flows from many eastern suburbs to the city centre and other work places.
Unfortunately most of the suburbs to the north, west & south of Panmure are either not-so-great or very expensive!!!
If you want some freely available info & descriptions of these suburbs and the others mentioned in the thread look at www.auckland-suburb-guide.co.nz
