Palmerston North
I need help!
We have been here just over a month, but have yet not really ventured out very far. Can anyone recommend a good place to go out at night, ie a pub, restaurant, coffee house anything? Also does any body know where you can buy decent sausage's from? And can you get Gammon here - my husband is craving it but all we have seen so far is Ham steaks. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Marie |

A national hero for defeating Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815, Arthur Wellesley was made the first Duke of Wellington. He loved a dish of beef, mushrooms, truffles, Madeira wine, and paté cooked in pastry, which has been named in his honor. It makes me hungry just typing it...... and wash it down with a  best I could do K9 |

Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Marie It depends what you are looking for regarding a good night out. Most people do tend to socialise at their homes, so your quite welcome to pop round to mine for a drink. I live up summerhill (just PM me). I have been out a few times and here are my options: The Celtic: very Irish, has a band at the weekend etc. Has that Irish pub in England feel. Flying Fish: opposite the Celtic, mainlydoes cocktails (very nice) especially the Fejeoa ones. Its a small bar but quite trendy. The Bath House: you can go for a meal here and it can liven up a bit later on in the evening. Aqabar Bar: opposite the bath house, people tend to go here more for eating food not too bad and quite reasonable. The Grand: More like a pub, slightly older but its ok. If you want to go for a nice meal try The Village Inn in Hokowhitu, the price is at the upper end but the food is beautiful. As for sausages - this was my son's favourite food before we left the UK, tried lots of different ones, never as good, but the best would be to go for a pork sausage from most supermarkets (make sure you don't get the pork flavour). Hope this helps Kara |
