Default Packing tips needed for those that did it themselves!!

Hello All,

We are leaving for Auckland in 8 weeks and as we're only shipping over a few boxes of personal items we have decided to pack ourselves.

Can those that have done this please advise:::::

* Clothes / bedding / duvets - will these be ok to go straight in the cardboard box or should I bag them first and then put them in the box??

* Photographs - again, can these go straight into the box or do I need to protect them in some kind of bag?

Just worrying about things getting damp!!

Thank you

Hi Natalie

We are doing the same as you only sending a few items over including a few musical instruments, we are packing them all inside protective bags if need be, we brought a few vaccum pack bags for throwovers and what not, hope this helps.

Things tend to "sweat" in plastic bags. Bedding, soft furnishings, clothes etc better off just in strong cardboard boxes so they can stayed aired and reduce chance of mould/mildew growing.

Yes we are sending some stuff by removals but it will be part of a container and not a full one, all stuff we pack in the vaccum bags we are taking with us.

Yes we're the same - sending about 7 boxes of 'stuff' over with a removal company as part of a container. It is quite expensive but hopefully will only need to do it once!
