Oooh you Lucky N.I'ers
Just heard on the radio that Ikea are in talks to open a store in South Auckland - lets hope they do it soon eh! Hope they will do mail order to the South Island. I suppose that is the drawback of living in the South! Ikea or the beautiful south - decisions decisions !! No contest, South wins hands down LOL

We have Lake Tekapo, Wanaka, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Mount Cook, Nelson, Kaikoura, quiet roads to beautiful places, alas the list is endless everthing but a soon to be Ikea LOL !!! Yes I know you are kidding - each to their own eh! Better keep this post on track and not diverse eh!

I am not sure but I suspect that NZ ikea would be like the Australian Ikea rather than the UK Ikea.

Quite interesting as there appears to be considerably different stock. Or more specifically, the UK stores have a lot more.

although it's not the best one or UK equivalent, it's still better than nothing isn't it?
The first thing I will do is (if the shop open), go and have a look for decent quality sofa cover - whenever I visit Auckland.

I agree with you. When I read this thread first time, that idea came across my mind first. It would be nothing like the UK IKea. Surely not.

Mind you met a right old spritely 92 year old the other day...bloody charming he was!! His youngest is 58
