Re: One way flights?
I would consider booking a return and leaving your return either open for 24months(if you can) or setting a date to return a year later and then do the same again when it comes to coming back, one of friends does this and it works out so much cheaper.

Re: One way flights?
Hello!
Could I please ask some advice about a one way ticket while this thread is going?
Brief synopsys: Hubby is carpenter (so skilled).
Immigration chap at the EXPO said to come out as finding a job while still in UK virtually impossible.
EOI selected from the Pool on 24/10/07
We're coming out anyway on 14th January for holiday.
Will also have interviews lined up for when we arrive.
Will have a few thousand in the bank.
Had medicals (albeit in July - so will need more) Have Police checks.
No visa's as no job offer.
Have booked a one way ticket Have we done the right thing? Anyone else done this?
Thanks in advance!

If you have PR by the time you come out then you'll be ok. But if you haven't and claim to be coming 'on holiday' won't immigration at the airport question your lack or return ticket?

Re: One way flights?
PR - Permanent residency! How do I obtain that? I haven't had much help from the London office....
Edited! (The penny dropped)

Re: One way flights?
You cannot get a work permit or visa without a job offer from New Zealand
Pr is Permanent Residency.

I now see your husband is a chippy. If he has NVQ3 or C&G advanced then you should be looking at the skilled migrant category to apply for permanent residency. [ please click the link] It will depend on what points you have. You can check the points on the NZIS website though the Points Indicator
The minimum is 100 points. ideal is 140 points.

Re: One way flights?
sorry for confusion - I said PR because of the EOI having been selected. And for a visitors visa I'm pretty sure you need proof of a return flight, so would assume as just someone on holiday, regardless of interviews, they would want to know your intentions? Why you haven't got return tickets?
On our original recce of one week, when we landed we were asked by immigration where we would be staying, about our return tickets, did we have friends/family in NZ, what was the purpose of our trip to NZ, etc.

Best is 140. but if you don;t get that then you can either apply anyway if over 100 points or you can think to try and obtain a job offer for more points..
