Default One afternoon/evening in Welly - where to stay...

Uumm.

We will be staying in Wellington for one night. Himself fancies a reasonable & central hotel.
Any recommendations please? I'd like to be able to walk out, have a moochy & maybe go for an Italian or summat.

Whats your price range? The Museum Hotel is good and well located. Our company uses the Duxton which is OK but I think a bit pricey for the quality.

Both these are at the Courtney Place end of town which has more bars/clubs and resteraunts. If you fancy an Italian I can recommend Zicos on Courtney Place.

Try the Comfort or Quality hotel on Cuba street. Central to everything yet a little out the way at the same time.

Cheers you two. It's all sounding good to me. Actually, really good. A bit of hotel comfort and a touch of a city .

Is there anything on anywhere that could be worth seeing at all? Theatre, plays, music.

You know the sort of thing. See a show and then have late night supper.

Looking at the 25th.

Think I'm getting a bit excited about all this.

All three within easy walking distance of Cuba and in centre.

If you like an after theatre curry Great India on Courtney Place a good choice.

If you want cinema centrally it's Reading Cinemas and food court on Courtenay Place.

I've stayed at the Museum Hotel and the Duxton, much preferred the Museum, really nice place. Both are central to the waterfront, Te Papa, shops, night life etc.

Have fun!

Copthorne on Oriental Parade, nice spot and not too far from Courtenay Place and one of the more modern hotels in town. As Welly is so small and everything central, wherever you stay in town is only a short walk from anywhere.

Perhaps also consider the James Cook, Intercontinental, Bolton Hotel or Holiday Inn (though this is at teh other end of town from Courtenay Pl).

... and check www.travelbug.co.nz too as they sometimes get even better deals and NO BOOKING FEE (unlike wotif).

I also found recently that by finding a deal online, I then called the hotel directly and told them of the deal and asked if they could match it - they not only matched the deal, they bettered it and threw in free wifi for the duration of my stay!

Just a tip....if you find out on a website liek WOTIF.COM or TravelBUG what the deals are...then ring up the hotel, they can often give you a better deal.

Hey, just a thought, but if you check wotif or expedia and find a good deal, you can phone up the hotel and see if they will beat it for you
