Ohope, Bay of Plenty?
We have the very kind offer of cheap/free accommodation (which looks very nice!) from a colleague next year for a few days. We are planning a motorbike trip round the North Island in Feb 2014 and could use this offer, IF there are enough shops nearby to get food basics.
Anyone been? Thoughts? Very embarassed that we have never travelled in the North Island but aiming to put that right next year with this trip

We are thinking of taking the two Street Trples on a NI tour early new year, have a friend up in the Coro area that has a boat near some excellent snapper fishing.

Not nailed the final date yet but it will be after the school hols are over. We did the south of SI last year for 1 week, down the East side to Inver and then back up the West side to Greymouth and back over Arthurs....excellent

Ohope is a great place - One of the best NZ beaches with great views of White Island ( which has been erupting over the past month)
Nearest town is Whakatane, about 8 k away so you won't starve
