Hi,
If you want to work you'll need a work visa too. Is you hubby going for a work to residence visa? I did this and my hubby applied for a partnership visa, got it approved the day after it was received!
Renting wise have a look at trademe.co.nz and click on property that'll give you an idea of cost of renting.

It's me and my other half, just 5 days left to pack up my life here then after a week visiting friends in Hong Kong we arrive to start our new life. Exciting but very scary - I think this morning the size of what I'm about to do has finally hit me!!

We are leaving LHR on the 30th, get to ChCh on 31st......just me and my boyfriend, for a year at first to see how we like it. No joy on finding reasonable accommodation as yet!
